August 13th is just a month away. That's International Left-Hander's Day. And that's a day we really want to celebrate as lefties.
Although this day started out as a way to raise awareness for the discrimination of left-handed people in a predominantly right-handed world, it's since gotten more about celebrating the joy of being left-handed.
The official day began in 1976, a year when protesting and raising awareness were big issues. In 1992, the day became International. Left-handed people all over the world are now celebrating August 13th.
In England, they have turned it into a fun event. Locations are set up all over the place where only left hands can be used for everything. It is still part raising awareness of what it's like to use the other hand, but it's also great fun for all the participants.
So, this year, take August 13th and share with your right-handed friends the fun of being left-handed. Enjoy yourselves and celebrate your differences.
